CHI Memorial Earns National Cancer Accreditation

CHI Memorial has proudly received reaccreditation from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer (CoC), a prestigious consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients. Since 1992, CHI Memorial has upheld this voluntary accreditation, which requires cancer programs to meet 34 CoC quality care standards, undergo a comprehensive evaluation every three years, and consistently maintain excellence in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care.

"As a Commission on Cancer-accredited center, CHI Memorial embraces a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment,” shared Justin Wilkes, MD, board-certified complex general surgical oncologist and dyad physician leader of oncology services at CHI Memorial Rees Skillern Cancer Center.  “Our team of surgeons, radiation and medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, nurse navigators, and support staff work seamlessly together, united in our commitment to provide the highest standard of care.  This accreditation enhances the value we offer our patients and also serves as a promise to their families, referring physicians, and our community that we are dedicated to meeting and exceeding the most rigorous standards for coordinated, quality cancer care."

As a CoC-accredited institution, CHI Memorial has also earned distinction of being an ACS Surgical Quality Partner reflecting its unwavering dedication to maintaining the highest standards in surgical care.

CHI Memorial Rees Skillern Cancer Center provides the full scope of cancer care – from prevention and early diagnosis to personalized treatment plans, rehabilitation, and life-long follow up for recurrent disease. Patients seeking care at a CoC-accredited facility gain access to vital resources, including clinical trials, innovative treatment options, genetic counseling, nurse navigation, and survivorship programs that profoundly enhance the quality of life for cancer survivors.

This reaccreditation is a testament to CHI Memorial's enduring commitment to compassionate, cutting-edge care. The three-year CoC accreditation is awarded to cancer centers that exceed national standards and demonstrate ongoing excellence in patient-centered care.
