Dr. C. Lee Jackson Named CHI Memorial Chief Medical Officer

CHI Memorial is pleased to announce C. Lee Jackson, MD, has been named chief medical officer, effective November 1, 2024.  Dr. Jackson brings a wealth of experience and leadership to this critical role, having served as a trusted physician leader within the health system for many years. 

Dr. Jackson's distinguished career spans over three decades, including 32 years as a leading urologist and innovator in the field of robotic surgery.  Dr. Jackson was a  pioneer in robotic prostatectomy procedures, having helped develop CHI Memorial’s robotics program.  He was one of the early adopters of the da Vinci® robotic surgical system more than 20 years ago and began the robotics program at the Cleveland Clinic Florida while serving as head of the Department of Urology.

Before being named chief medical officer, Dr. Jackson served as a physician advisor and medical director of surgical services at CHI Memorial, demonstrating his deep understanding of the health system and its needs.  Most recently, Dr. Jackson played a pivotal role in developing the innovative Supportive Peer program.  This program provides a safe and confidential space for providers to discuss emotionally stressful events and situations, fostering a culture of support and well-being within our organization.

Dr. Jackson is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor and completed a urology residency and fellowship in renal transplantation and renovascular surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio.  He has also held leadership positions such as medical director of CHI Memorial Urologic Oncology and associate chief of staff at Cleveland Clinic Florida.
