James Williams Joins CHI Memorial as Chief Operating Officer
CHI Memorial is pleased to announce James P. Williams as its new chief operating officer. With more than 20 years of experience in health care leadership, Williams brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the health system.
In his previous role as chief administrative officer at Rochester Regional Health, Williams made significant contributions to the organization, assuming leadership of several key service lines including oncology, palliative medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, and GI. He collaborated closely with medical and nursing leaders to manage operations across numerous ambulatory sites and six cancer center locations, and oversaw operational and capital budgets exceeding $180 million. He led strategic planning efforts for service line growth and spearheaded physician recruitment and retention initiatives. Additionally, Williams championed performance improvement and lean projects to enhance operational efficiency and ambulatory access, while also developing and implementing quality improvement plans, including accreditation programs. He also served as a leader on the health system’s perioperative and emergency medicine governance structure.
Prior to that, Williams held various leadership positions at Presence Health and Deloitte Consulting, where he led performance improvement initiatives and collaborated with clients to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
Williams holds a Master of Health Service Administration degree from Xavier University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.
